STEP 03 OF 05

Datasheet

Each datasheet has its own document number and is built from a template in your library. It moves through the review and quotation revisions while the tracker keeps the history.

What happens

  • Pick a template for the datasheet from the template library.
  • Download the Excel file, edit it locally, and upload it back.
  • Batch create clones one starter datasheet into up to 50 tags of an MR that have no datasheet yet. Tag, service, line number, P&ID and document number always come from the index.
  • Sign-offs, stamps and PDFs are never copied, and every batch is recorded in the change log.
  • Revision 0A is Issued for Review. Revision 0B is Issued for Quotation.
  • Datasheets are grouped into MR packages. One MR holds many datasheets, but a datasheet never belongs to two MRs.
  • A datasheet can cover several tags where it makes sense, such as horn and beacon tables.
  • Datasheets generated from a template print with page numbers only. Client and template text is removed from the footer.

What the system keeps

  • Document number, template, MR package and primary tag.
  • Each revision with its date, description and the index and P&ID revisions it was based on.
  • The uploaded Excel file for every revision.
  • Each batch, with its source, field set and result.

Try it in the demo

  • Datasheets tab: See each datasheet with its current revision. The demo project has 29.
  • MR board tab: See the MR packages and where each one stands. There are 7 in the demo.
  • Templates tab: Browse the template library.
  • Batch create tab: Clone a starter datasheet into the tags of an MR that have none.

To try this in the tracker, request access at tracker@inc.10mb.com. The project is a fictional gas plant, so edit freely.

You can: browse every tab, edit tags and datasheets, download and upload Excel files, batch create datasheets, run sign-off, freeze revisions and run the validation checks.
You cannot: reset the demo data, change the status date or the sign-off setup (administrators only), or open the WordPress admin area.
Reset: the demo reloads every night at 3:00 am Pacific, so nothing you save is kept. Please do not enter real or confidential information.
